The Bowls NZ Masters Games, a prelude to 2017 World Masters Games, has wrapped up here at Carlton Cornwall Bowling Club, Auckland after five days of competition
In the 45-65 Pairs Steve Hoeft and Aggie Motu started strongly and never looked back. They won 11-4 over Kevin Hurren and Glennis Davey of Howick.
Diane Strawbridge, after claiming gold in the Women's 45-65 Women's Pairs and the Women's Open Fours yesterday, continued on her winning way. With partner Bill Harris, a 1-5 Year Bowler they beat Gordon Rennie and Hetty Bolscher by the slimmest of margins 8-7.
The Men's Fours 65+ Final was played yesterday and went to an extra end. Michael Feek who skipped Peter Blick, John Staines and David Stallard picked up a three on the last end to force the extra end and then picked up another two to take the title for 2016. Runners up were Neil Fisher, Bryan Chapman, Gary Finnemore and Petar Sain. Final Score: 9-11
The final round of the Women's Open Fours was a winner takes all battle with Maureen Parker, Ann Muir, Pam Brewster and Diane Strawbridge of Kensington taking the spoils from Alison Rennie, Jill Fraser, Hetty Bolscher and Bev Crowe.
