Bill Murray takes over White House briefing to talk baseball

The last time the Chicago Cubs reached the World Series was just one month after the end of World War II in 1945.

Now, over 70 years later, they are just one win away from reaching the big dance for the 11th time - chasing their first MLB title since 1908.

Over recent weeks, their biggest supporter, Bill Murray, has been the star of internet memes, tweets and YouTube videos.

After parading around with the 2016 Ryder Cup-winning US golf team, one thing is abundantly clear - Bill Murray loves sports.

Now, he's taken over the White House.

During a briefing this morning, Bill Murray seized the podium at the end of proceedings and decided to give a press conference on his beloved Cubs.

Fielding questions, Bill Murray reiterating his confidence in the side winning the 2016 World Series.

"I feel very confident that Clayton Kershaw is a great, great pitcher, but we got too many sticks," said Murray at the podium.

The Hill reported that Murray was at the White House so that President Obama - also a massive Chicago fan - could congratulate him on winning the Mark Twain Prize for American Humour.
