Susan Blundell celebrated her 27th birthday with a fourth-round win in the national beach volleyball series at Mt Maunganui yesterday. It was the first time Blundell and teammate Anna Scarlett have won on Mt Maunganui's Main Beach, her home court.
The pair gave a polished performance in their 21-17 21-18 final triumph over Germans Okka Rau and Helke Claasen.
They had earlier eliminated Australians Alice Rohkamper and Heike Jensen 21-13 21-15 in the semifinals.
The men's title went to the French world No 13 pairing of Kevin and Andy Ces.
