KEY POINTS:
Tall Ferns captain Donna Loffhagen will play again for Canberra in the Australian women's basketball competition.
She had returned home from the United States this year after missing the cut at top-ranked WNBA team the Connecticut Sun and was thinking of retiring.
However, the double international has decided for a second season with Canberra .
"I love the game. Unfortunately there's not a great following for women's basketball in New Zealand, there's no competition basically, which is ridiculous considering they want to go to the Olympics in 2008," the 28-year-old told the Southland Times.
"If you want to play basketball and if you want to get decent games you have to go elsewhere. We are just lucky that Australia is so close and it's got a good competition. There are a few Kiwi girls playing over there."
Loffhagen left for Canberra yesterday and she has a contract with Southern Sting for next year's national netball league.
However, if a basketball offer comes again from the US, she has an exit clause to allow her to have another shot in the WNBA.
