KEY POINTS:
Still waiting to hear their fate from the New Zealand Olympic selectors, the national women's basketball team have accepted an invitation to play in the pre-Olympic test event in Beijing from April 19-26.
Games organisers will assemble a strong six-team field of which the Tall Ferns are the lowest ranked - 16th in the world. Also entered are defending Olympic champions the US, Australia, China, Korea and Cuba.
"Playing teams of this calibre at the Olympic venue is a fantastic opportunity," said Ferns coach Mike McHugh.
The Olympic committee is expected to rule this month on whether the Tall Ferns deserve a berth at the Games next year.
