New Zealand have scored their first win in three outings, coming from behind to beat Slovenia 74-72 in the Boris Stankovic Continental Cup basketball tournament in Macau.
New Zealand were without experienced players captain Pero Cameron and forward Dillon Boucher, who are injured, and point guard Mark Dickel, who has yet to join the team.
After giving up the lead in the first half, the Tall Blacks pegged Slovenia back in the third quarter as their opponents frittered away a nine-point lead.
Slovenia led by three with 90 seconds to go but fouled Lindsay Tait under the offensive basket, then conceded a technical foul when arguing the call.
The Tall Blacks levelled, then Tait provided the winning free throws when he was fouled in the backcourt with 16 seconds left.
Veteran shooter Phill Jones led all scorers with 25 points.
Their next game is against the hosts China on Wednesday night.
Earlier New Zealand lost 55-67 to Angola and 84-87 to the National Basketball Association Development League Ambassadors.
