Tall Blacks basketball coach Tab Baldwin is giving his former homeland a tickle up, a week out from the start of the world championships in Japan.
Baldwin is in Dunedin, preparing for tonight's first game in the two-match series against Qatar, while the American team is in Asia talking up their chances.
According to the American players they have already won the tournament, and they will take the gold medal home, where it belongs.
Baldwin has launched into his former countrymen, saying that sort of talk disgusts him, and he points out that the medal cabinet in American is fairly dusty as it has been a while since the Americans earned any sort of decent tournament win.
Baldwin believes teams like Argentina and Serbia-Montenegro might have something to say about the American trash talking.
