Shooting a basketball from halfway and getting the ball in the basket is an unlikely occurrence.
But shooting a basketball from halfway and having the ball stall on the rim almost defies belief.
That is exactly what happened at halftime in the Atlanta Hawks match against the Utah Jazz last weekend, when a fan was presented with an opportunity to make $1000 by landing a shot from halfway.
The stunned announcer could only shout "oh my, oh my", as the fan's shot stopped dead on the rim of the hoop, before running down and pulling on the net so the ball fell in.
After checking with the judges, the fan was awarded the prize money and the decision was met with a huge roar of approval from the crowd.
