The season is now over for all of our European based players with Tall Blacks centre Rob Loe the last to bow out in post-season play.
Loes Belgium club Limburg United eventually lost their best of five Scooore League semi-final series 3-2 against Oostende.
We reported last week that Limburg were 2-1 down in the series. On Wednesday they tied the series with a nail biting 71-70 victory with Loe contributing 8 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal and a pair of blocks.
Limburg led 54-45 at three quarter time but Oostende clawed their way back into the contest. They briefly took the lead before Limburg forward Jason Love hit the game winner moments before the final buzzer to send the United fans delirious.
Unfortunately game five was something of an anti climax as, in front of their own fans in the Sleuyter Arena, Oostende opened up a seven points first quarter lead and extended it to 44-28 at half-time. Limburg never threatened a comeback going down 89-75 with Loe adding 5 rebounds to10 points (3/6FG, 3/4FT).
There is a familiar face in the Oostende line up with Perth Wildcats star Jermaine Beal a member of the team that now go on to play Crelan Okapi Aalstar in the final. It will be the fifth consecutive season that Oostende, the reigning champions, has contested the final.
Loe wont be able to enjoy much of a break. He will head to Tokyo early next week to link up with the Tall Blacks squad for the start of its Olympic Qualifying campaign.
