Dallas Mavericks
I'm very high on the Mavs this year after adding DeAndre Jordan and Sharkie's pick for rookie of the year, Luka Doncic. Dennis Smith Jr will be a year better and Dirk can still do things in a limited role.
Add the coaching of Rick Carlisle and I see a team that could be sneaky good and an outside chance for the playoffs.
Recommended Bet: Over 33.5
Portland Trailblazers
The Blazers had a very quiet off-season and seem pretty happy to run things back despite a humiliating sweep out of the playoffs. However, they have proven to be a very effective regular season team hitting the Over in four out of the last five season.
Damian Lillard inspired this team to a great run last year which saw them hit 49 wins. I expect them to be in a similar range this season.
Recommended Bet: Over 42.5
Atlanta Hawks
Look likely to be the worst team in basketball this year, with rookie PG Trae Young set to be given the keys. They have some interesting pieces for the future, but winning more than the 24 games they won last year seems unlikely with no incentive to do so.
Recommended Bet: Under 24.5
Milwaukee Bucks
There's no question the Bucks underperformed last year and it's hoped the installation of Mike Budenholzer as coach will see them reach their true potential.
Giannis Antetokounmpo should continue to get better and the team's ball movement and defence should improve greatly under Coach Bud.
Recommended Bet: Over 47.5
Los Angeles Lakers
LeBron teams have typically taken a long time to get going in his first year as seen in both Miami and Cleveland.
With the current cast of misfits and kids he's got supporting him I'm expecting some difficult times early on.
They also have one of the league's toughest schedules in terms of rest, so I'm leaning towards the under.
