Unlike the starters, who were voted in by a combination of fan, player and media votes, the reserves were selected by the coaches around the league.
While Adams missed out, his Oklahoma City Thunder teammate Russell Westbrook was selected among the reserve guards, alongside Golden State's Klay Thompson, Minnesota's Jimmy Butler and Portland's Damian Lillard.
Adams wasn't the only notable exclusion from the Western Conference reserves, with dynamic Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams missing out.
In his 13th year in the league, Williams is averaging a career high in both points and assists, and is one of the main factors the injury-riddled Clippers are looking like they could make a charge for the playoffs.
In the Eastern Conference reserves, the guard spots were secured by Indiana's Victor Oladipo, Toronto's Kyle Lowry, Washington backcourt duo Bradley Beal and John Wall, while the forward selections were Boston's Al Horford, Cleveland's Kevin Love and New York's Kristaps Porzingis.
The East reserves weren't without their snubs, the most notable of which was Detroit powerhouse centre Andre Drummond.
The reserves now go into a player pool, with teams being selected by captains LeBron James of Cleveland and Golden State's Stephen Curry. The two first choose from the selected starters before choosing their reserves. Players are selected regardless of conference.
The draft is not being televised however, with the selected teams being revealed on Friday.
