Former Tall Black Sean Marks may be about to receive a big promotion in the NBA.
Yahoo Sports has reported that Marks has been offered the general manager role of the Brooklyn Nets, handing the Kiwi one of the 30 most coveted off-court roles in basketball.
The job would be a baptism of fire for Marks, who currently serves as assistant general manager at the San Antonio Spurs. The Nets are a franchise with difficulties both on and off the court, currently sitting second from bottom in the NBA's eastern conference with a 14-40 record.
But Marks has experienced expert tutelage at the Spurs, a model franchise across all American sport, where he has enjoyed a burgeoning off-court career after retiring.
Having initially served as general manager for San Antonio's developmental league side, the 40-year-old then acted as Spurs' assistant coach alongside Gregg Popovich, before moving into the assistant GM role.
