LeBron James believes he can fly.
The Los Angeles Lakers recruit has confirmed reports he is set to star in a Space Jam sequel — putting him right there with Michael Jordan in the annals of basketball superstardom.
The incredible development will reportedly see production begin on Space Jam 2 next year with a release date yet to be announced.
The Hollywood reporter has confirmed sly hints from James' entertainment company that Ryan Coogler — the producer behind Marvel's Black Panther (2018) — has signed on to bring the Warner Bros' Looney Tunes concept to life again.
Director Terence Nance has also agreed to run the show behind the camera.
The announcement was made through a quirky Instagram post from James' entertainment company Spring Hill Entertainment.
James has for years been linked with starring in a Space Jam sequel — his move to Los Angeles has turned dreams into reality.
"The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie," James told The Hollywood Reporter.
"It's so much bigger. I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people."
James also suggested he had input into the decision to headhunt Coogler to produce the movie after enjoying his work on Black Panther.
"I loved his vision" for Black Panther, so for Ryan to be able to bring that to kids, it's amazing," James said.
The announcement immediately sent the basketball world into meltdown — with speculation about which NBA stars will be joining James on the Toon Squad burning up social media.
