NBA side the Brooklyn Nets have signed former Breakers forward Akil Mitchell.
Mitchell made headlines in January when he suffered a gruesome injury after getting poked in the left eye during an NBL game for the Breakers against the Cairns Taipans last month, leaving his eye-ball outside of the socket.
The 25-year-old flew back to the United States shortly after sustaining the injury, missing the Breakers' final two games of the regular season.
The Panama international returned to basketball a month later, signing with the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League, where he has averaged 8.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 28.6 minutes per game in the 2016-17 season.
