Finn Delany has today confirmed his future as a SKYCITY Breaker, putting pen to a two-year deal that will ensure that the 22-year-old power forward continues his basketball development at the four-time championship winning club.
Delany has not long ago returned to New Zealand after winning bronze with the Tall Blacks at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, the proud Nelson product is delighted to have his immediate future mapped out as he strives to establish himself in the NBL.
"This is huge for me, the SKYCITY Breakers is a great club to part of and to grow, this is where I have started as a professional and to be a part of the new chapter with new ownership and new coach just adds to the excitement.
"Last year was a huge learning curve early in my career, to get consistent minutes and play a role and all that means as a pro. Towards the end of the year I was more comfortable on and off the floor in understanding how to live life as a professional sportsman. I am excited to step into a larger role in that capacity next season."
SKYCITY Breakers General Manager Dillon Boucher says Delany is a player for the now, but also an investment in the future.
"Finn is a player of incredible potential, blessed with great athletic ability, he continues to learn the game and understand what is required week in week out at the top level to compete in the NBL. He has already shown that he can contribute to the team at the top level and will again be looking to increase his production next season, we are thrilled to have one of the NBLs most promising young players locked up for a couple of seasons."
Boucher confirmed that the club expects to make further announcements next week as the club continues to work through the free agency period and build an exciting roster under new coach Kevin Braswell for the new season.
