The SKYCITY Breakers are contemplating their final home game of 2016 this Thursday night, and it does not get any bigger nor bitter than a clash with their biggest rivals the Perth Wildcats.
With both teams under pressure to maintain pace with the teams around them on a tightly congested league ladder, the match has significance for different reasons.
Past years would see this game more often than not deciding top place on the league ladder, but 2016/17 is very different with just three wins separating the entire 8 clubs, with the SKYCITY Breakers 7 wins equal to that of second placed Adelaide 36ers.
Rather ironically ahead of a rivalry that in sporting terms might be something of a war, the Breakers will be represented at SKYCITY tonight in a more friendly battle against the Vodafone Warriors, on an e-Sports playing field.
The SKYCITY Breakers answered the Vodafone Warriors call to go head to head in an e-Sports Call of Duty Infinite Warfare challenge at SKYCITY Auckland tonight.
The free fan event at Andys Burgers & Bar will see players from both teams play against each other alongside four Call of Duty pro players from the LPL2 League and fans. The event will see four-man squads from both teams go head to head over five maps.
Fans will not only have the opportunity to meet their sporting stars, but also compete against the likes of Vodafone Warriors players Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Ata Hingano, Tui Lolohea and Ken Maumalo and SKYCITY Breakers Alex Pledger, Derone Raukawa, Akil Mitchell, David Stockton and Shea Ili.
