Former Melbourne Tigers player and Wellington Saints coach Dean Vickerman has joined the Breakers as assistant coach.
The 35-year-old, who coached the Saints in 2002, has tasted NBL success as an assistant at 2006 champion Melbourne Tigers. Last year he was on the coaching staff at Singapore Slingers for their debut season.
Vickerman will start his new role next month, joining academy coach Judd Flavell as the chief support for head coach Andrej Lemanis.
