KEY POINTS:
New Zealand Breakers guard Kirk Penney is round one's player of the week after sinking 41 points against the Wollongong Hawks in an Australian National Basketball League match last Thursday.
Penney made 16 from 22 field goal attempts and connected with six of three-point attempts as well as three from as many from the free-throw line as the Breakers won 114-93.
Penney wasn't aware he had scored so many points during the game.
"I never really felt like the numbers were stacking up that big for me," he said.
"I just kept getting great looks at the basket and shooting the ball. That is the benefit of having guys like CJ (Bruton), Oscar (Forman) and Phill (Jones) working the perimeter."
Others in consideration for player of the week included Matt Knight (Sydney), Rosell Ellis (Townsville), Corey Williams (Townsville), Glen Saville (Wollongong), Dusty Rychart (Wollongong), Shawn Redhage (Perth), Martin Cattalini (Cairns), Mark Worthington (South), Cortez Groves (South), David Barlow (Melbourne) and Chris Anstey (Melbourne).
