David Ingham is quietly confident he will be appointed as head coach of the Breakers basketball franchise.
The Perth Wildcats assistant is on a short-list of four in the hunt for the job, the others being Tall Blacks coaches Tab Baldwin and Nenad Vucinic as well as another Australian, Andrej Lemanis.
Ingham and the Townsville Crocs assistant, Lemanis are thought to be the front runners.
It is thought that Baldwin is now keen to remain in Europe where the money is better.
Ingham says he has high aspirations to get the job and have an impact on the struggling New Zealand side.
If Ingham is appointed he will be making big changes when the transfer window opens.
Ingham says there needs to be some change, although he does believe the core is there, but he would bring in some other players to boost the squad.
The ANBL rules state they cannot talk to any players until two weeks after the Grand Final, but he is confident he has the right contacts to get the right players if and when need be.
He believes it is a great job because the Breakers have marvellous facilities and it would be a great for any coach to get hold of and work with what they have.
He had his final interview with the Breakers board in Canberra on Thursday and the successful candidate is expected to be announced on Monday.
