New Zealand shooting guard Corey Webster has been granted a release from his contract with the Perth Wildcats.
Webster ended his long tenure with the New Zealand Breakers earlier this year, and originally signed a two-year deal with the Wildcats in March. However, he recently expressed the desire to break his contract and pursue his career overseas.
"It is disappointing to lose a key signing like Corey, but we're thankful to have reached this decision now, when we have the time to make the necessary changes," said Perth Wildcats CEO Troy Georgiu.
Webster is currently playing for the Dallas Mavericks in NBA's Las Vegas Summer League, where he is averaging 4.6 points on 41 per cent shooting, in 16.8 minutes per game.
As well as his stints in the Australian NBL and the New Zealand NBL, Webster has also played in Greece and Serbia throughout his career, and a stint in Europe is his most likely destination.
