Breakers CEO Peter Chapman is willing to fall on his sword if the basketball club's board wants him to.
Chapman promised to offer his resignation if the side did not make the Australian NBL playoffs.
He has notified the board after the team's last game at the weekend which brought a dismal season to an end.
Chapman said if the board decides he has not done his job properly he will step aside.
However he said poor results are the responsibility of the coaches and he has been very successful in his role off the court.
He said the franchise is successful commercially, but it never gets reported.
Chapman has also hinted some players will not be asked back next year, as the new coach is likely to pick his roster with statistics and not reputation in mind.
Tall Blacks Pero Cameron and Dillon Boucher are among a number of players who have struggled this season and are now free agents.
