The New Zealand Breakers had a pre-season stumble when losing their basketball match 86-96 to the Sydney Kings in Sydney.
The scores were deadlocked at 49-49 at halftime before hot-shooting saw Sydney break away after trailing 71-72 heading into the final quarter.
The Breakers now head to the Gold Coast to play the Blaze tonight and the Brisbane Bullets tomorrow. Their first match in the Australian National Basketball League is against Cairns in Auckland on September 20.
