KEY POINTS:
The Breakers have signed former New Orleans Hornets summer league player Pierre Wooten to cover for injured import Brian Wethers.
Wethers has been placed on injury waiver after aggravating a knee injury in Monday's 100-89 loss to the Kings in Sydney.
Wooten arrives in Auckland today.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, he is a 1.9m former Winthrop University stand-out who can play in the point guard or shooting guard positions. He has played in France and Turkey, and has been part of the Hornets NBA Summer League programme.
The Breakers cross the Tasman again on Friday morning to prepare for a double-header weekend with matches in Cairns and Townsville.
Provided all the required paperwork is complete, Wooten will travel.
Meanwhile, Kings coach Brian Goorjian didn't miss the opportunity to rate the Breakers under coach Andrej Lemanis.
Goorjian was surprised the Breakers weren't safely in playoff territory with Wethers and Carlos Powell who he rated the best import combination in the Australian National Basketball League.
With the pressure mounting on Lemanis, Goorjian, also the Australian national coach, questioned the team's cohesion and the underperformance of captain Paul Henare and Aaron Olson.
"I thought they'd be top-four, maybe top-six. Wethers and Powell, as great as the two of them are, it's getting all that to blend together," Goorjian said.
"I'm not seeing the same deal out of some of the others, Henare isn't how he was at the start of the season, Olson always used to come here and gave us fits. Now you've got some going and others who aren't going. It's a fine line, a tough deal, and I'm sure they're disappointed."
