The New Zealand Breakers have made a splash in the prestigious New York Times.
Times basketball reporter Scott Cacciola spent some time with the club and its players recently as part of a series he is writing called 'Not the Knicks'.
The series was inspired by the Knicks' poor form this season. The newspaper gave Cacciola a "sabbatical from covering the woeful Knicks", which has allowed him to cover teams from around America and further beyond.
Cacciola was in camp with the Breakers as they prepared for their recent game against the Townsville Crocodiles. He also accompanied the team on their trip to Northern Queensland for the game.
Cacciola called the Breakers "the most unconventional team in Australia's National Basketball League".
