The New Zealand Breakers restored some lost pride last night, ending their 10-game losing streak by defeating the Adelaide 36ers 122-114 at the North Shore Events Centre.
The Breakers defence was vastly improved from recent weeks, enabling them to race out to a 12- point lead in the first quarter.
Matt Sutton and Brett Maher struck back in the second term for Adelaide to bridge the gap, the Breakers leading 58-54 at halftime.
They led 94-82 at the three-quarter mark and kept up the defence in the final quarter, leaving the 36ers struggling to score.
Carlos Powell again top scored for the Breakers with 37.
