Townsville Crocodiles 96
NZ Breakers 79
A successful year had a frustrating finish for the New Zealand Breakers, who were convincingly beaten by the Townsville Crocodiles in their NBL clash last night.
The table-topping Kiwis came down to earth with a 96-79 loss in the New Years Eve fixture at the Townsville Entertainment Centre.
The Crocodiles led by as many as 29 points midway through the third quarter.
The Breakers came up with some big baskets in the final term to salvage some respectability.
Russell Hinder (18 points), Brad Williamson (16) and Michael Cedar (15) did the damage for the home side while Kevin Braswell (32) was forced to carry the load for the Breakers with Gary Wilkinson (15) and Kirk Penney (12) the only others in double-figures.
