KEY POINTS:
The New Zealand Breakers won their second pre-season basketball match, beating the South Dragons 94-88 in Melbourne last night.
The Breakers who beat the Dragons on Wednesday night by one-point in overtime, gave a more controlled performance in the second game, streaking out to a 20-point halftime lead on the back of a dominant 32-12 second quarter.
The Breakers head to Sydney to tackle the Sydney Kings tomorrow night. They play the Gold Coast Blaze on Monday and the champions, Brisbane Bullets, on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a scan has confirmed that new recruit Kirk Penney is unlikely to be fit for the Breakers' Australian National Basketball League season opener with the Cairns Taipans match on September 20.
The Tall Black strained his calf a week ago and the prognosis is for 3-5 weeks on the sideline.
Penney has now set his sights on being available for the club's second game, against the West Sydney Razorbacks at home on October 4.
