Breakers reflect on win over 36ers

The SKYCITY Breakers are straight back into work today in preparation for a double header week in the ANBL, with an away game in Melbourne on Friday night followed by a home game at Vector Arena against Brisbane on Sunday afternoon (3pm tip off).

The team will conclude their debrief of the win over the Adelaide 36ers this morning, before shifting their focus to Melbourne and one of the toughest challenges in the ANBL in Hisense Arena on Friday night.

The club is never one for getting too low on the lows or too high on the highs of a season and have to a large degree already moved on from the big win on Saturday night, it was one however that had plenty of reasons to celebrate.

The 119-93 victory featured the most points scored by the Breakers since the game moved to 40 minutes duration in 2009, and it was the highest score since beating Gold Coast 123-115 in February 2011.

The 31 assists equaled the highest number in a 40 minute game by the Breakers, and just one shy of all-time record 32 set v Sydney Spirit in December 2008 (48 minute game).

The 17 threes that rained down at Vector Arena in front of over 5,500 fans was just one less than the 18 scored against Cairns in the opening game of 2009/10 season - the first 40-minute game played by the club. The Breakers have also made 18 three pointers on three other occasions before plus a record 20 v Melbourne Tigers in Sept 08 but all in 48 minute games.

There were some notable individual stats for the players as well.

- Ethan Rusbatch debuted and became the 89th player to play for the club in the NBL.

- The victory was win number 150 for Tom Abercrombie. Only Mika Vukona (172) has won more games in a Breakers singlet.

- Corey Webster secured a career high six rebounds.

- Alex Pledger, with eight points, moved past Phil Jones (1,372pts) into 10th spot on Breakers all-time scoring list.

- Akil Mitchell (17pts and 11rebs) became first Breakers player to record a double-double this season.
