Breakers contemplate toughest weekend yet

The SKYCITY Breakers are under no illusions as to the difficult nature of their double header weekend in the NBL, facing off against two of the big spending pre-season favourites in the space of three days.

And yet they are equally confident in their own ability to match it with Melbourne (away on Friday night) and Brisbane (Vector Arena, 3pm on Sunday), perhaps not surprising given their record breaking feats against the 36ers last Saturday night.

Melbourne are always a tough proposition and that is even more the case when they are on their home court at Hisense Arena. But consider that the league favourites have dropped their last two games to sit at three wins and four losses, and the desperation of the home side to perform up to those expectations runs even deeper, meaning an even tougher night in prospect for the SKYCITY Breakers on Friday.

The team will then return home on Saturday and quickly turn their attention to a team that some are (kindly) referring to as the West Breakers with the influence of former Breakers favourites Andrej Lemanis, CJ Bruton and Richard Clarke stamped all over the Bullets on their return to the league. Add to that former Breaker Reuben Te Rangi on the Bullets roster and you have a mouth-watering clash on Sunday afternoon at Vector Arena.

The game is an unusual one also in that it is a Sunday afternoon home game (tipoff 3pm), a rarity for the Breakers. The game is featured as the Community Game for the club, with the Graeme Dingle Foundation set to feature heavily on the day, with awareness and fundraising activations during the game.

Fans are encouraged to turn out in big numbers to welcome back a few familiar faces and cheer on their own as they look to build on their spectacular high scoring effort against the Adelaide 36ers, with tickets starting at just $12.50 for purchases of three or more.

Also a special feature of the Community Round is an extended meet the team on court after the game, with all fans invited to join the team for pictures and autographs on the stadium floor after the final buzzer.
