INDIANAPOLIS - Yugoslavia have halted the Tall Blacks' stunning run at the World Championships by beating them 89-78 in an electric match in the semi-finals of the World Basketball Championships today.
Yugoslavia snatched the game from a dominating New Zealand in the third quarter with a turnaround of the score from New Zealand who were leading 48-39 at half time. New Zealand were also ahead at the end of the first quarter.
With many fouls in a messy fourth quarter Yugoslavia took advantage and extended their lead to take the win.
The result sees defending world champions Yugoslavia facing Argentina in the final tomorrow, after Argentina beat Germany 86-80 earlier today.
New Zealand will play Germany for the bronze medal tomorrow morning.
