Basketball: Winning start for Slingers

Newcomers Singapore has scored an historic 98-91 win over Adelaide in the club's debut NBL game at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Coupled with the emotion of Singapore's maiden match, and an eagerness to start the season with a win, the Slingers outplayed the 36ers in the opening game of the 2006-07 NBL season in front of a crowd of just over four thousand.

Forward Marquin Chandler top scored for the Slingers with 21 points.

Singapore's inclusion in the competition makes the NBL the first Australian-based professional sports league to include a team in Asia.
