KEY POINTS:
Christchurch Sirens forward and captain Donna Wilkins has been named the Australian women's NBL player of the week for round five.
Wilkins was instrumental in leading the Sirens to their first WNBL win, tallying 15 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and two steals in the 77-56 win over Dandenong Rangers last weekend. "We were very excited with getting the win against Dandenong," Wilkins said. "Obviously for us it was a long time coming but it's pretty tough playing in this league and we had been travelling for sometime so everyone was stoked to get that win." Wilkins has been a pillar of strength for the Sirens in their debut WNBL season, averaging a consistent 12.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game, while her work on the defensive end has been dominant.
The Sirens' next three matches are at home.
