DALLAS - The long-suffering Miami Heat capped a remarkable turnaround by beating the Dallas Mavericks 95-92 today to win the National Basketball Association finals 4-2 and claim their first championship.
Guard Dwyane Wade scored 36 points to lead the Heat, a veteran team who recovered from a potentially dispiriting 0-2 deficit to sweep the next four games over a Dallas squad who saw their confidence erode with each loss.
Udonis Haslem added 17 points for the Heat, who won despite hitting just two of 18 from beyond the arc.
Dirk Nowitzki paced Dallas with 29 points and 15 rebounds.
