OAKLAND, California - The Golden State Warriors crushed the Dallas Mavericks 111-86 to become the first eighth-seeded team in NBA history to eliminate a No. 1 seed in the first round of seven-game playoff series on today.
Stephen Jackson fueled the Game Six triumph by hitting seven three-pointers and finishing with 33 points as the Warriors wrapped up the series 4-2. Baron Davis had 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Josh Howard and Jerry Stackhouse scored 20 points each for the Mavericks, who had the league's best record during the regular season.
Standout Dirk Nowitzki had just eight points, making only two of 13 field goal attempts. The Warriors will face either the Houston Rockets or the Utah Jazz in the second round of the playoffs. Their series is tied 3-3.
