KEY POINTS:
Melbourne Tigers star Sam Mackinnon's Australian NBL season is almost certainly over and his career in jeopardy after again being diagnosed with blood clots on his lungs.
Mackinnon sat out Saturday night's 108-95 win over Perth in Darwin and will remain in the Northern Territory capital for several days while doctors try to determine the cause of his latest medical setback.
Mackinnon, 32, a former league MVP, missed Australia's Olympic Games campaign in Beijing this year after medical tests in April found he had blood clots on his lungs.
But the forward recovered to join the Tigers this season, after he left the now defunct Brisbane Bullets.
Mackinnon played in the Tigers' loss to Townsville last Wednesday, but on Friday was ruled out of the match against Perth.
