Otago basketball have lost their best player, with the decision of Hayden Allen to sign with the North Harbour Heat for next year's NBL.

Allen, 24, the Nuggets shooting guard, joined the New Zealand Breakers as a development player in the Australian league last month. It is a summer competition and Allen has opted to play for the North Harbour Heat in the NBL next winter.
