KEY POINTS:
Basketball New Zealand will not extend the automatic one-week ban that goes with an ejection from a game after the tussle between Auckland Stars captain Casey Frank and the Wellington Saints import Bakari Hendrix.
Both franchises have been issued with a written warning that any similar behaviour in future will bring down a much harsher penalty.
The trouble began when Hendrix slapped Auckland forward Dillon Boucher after the Saints were fouled near the end of Thursday's game, won 108-106 by the Stars.
Frank moved in and grabbed Hendrix, followed by lots of jostling and verbals involving other players.
Hendrix and Frank were ejected, but were not escorted from the court, a procedure the NBL has said it will tighten.
More words were exchanged from the bench and Hendrix followed Frank down a corridor towards the changing sheds. After more push-and-shove, Hendrix threw a punch which marked Frank's face. It was caught on amateur video.
