Discarded by Waikato, American Eric Devendorf has been picked up by Wellington for the remainder of the National Basketball League.
Just one day after his departure from Waikato was announced, Wellington Saints today said they had snapped up Devendorf's services.
He will join the side in time for their match against Canterbury Cougars in the capital on Friday night.
Wellington said they had looked at Devendorf pre-season but he signed with 2009 champions Waikato before negotiations were entered into.
Wellington coach Pero Cameron said his team were only too happy to pick him up.
"While I'm disappointed we had to release Daryl Hudson who is a great player and a great guy, I feel that a talent such as Devendorf, who can also play minutes at the point guard spot, is something we couldn't pass up.
"Talent like that doesn't come around that often, hopefully we can make this a good fit."
