One of those is Hampton's chance to line up against NBA sides the Memphis Grizzlies and Oklahoma City Thunder in two pre-season fixtures on October 9th and 11th.
The games will give him the chance to play against the very players he wants to become, as well as feel the physicality and speed of the NBA and be exposed to the facilities the teams use.
Of particular interest will be his match-up with Ja Morant, the Grizzlies guard who was selected second in the draft in June, and has garnered comparisons with superstar Russell Westbrook.
Morant plays a similar position and has similar attributes to Hampton, and is in the exact position career wise that Hampton wants to be in, in 12 months.
The occasion could all prove a little overwhelming.
But Thunder head coach Billy Donovan isn't so convinced the guard's future is on the line just yet, and told the Herald he wouldn't put too much stock into one game.
"With a young player like that, who is going overseas there will be an adjustment period for him.
"Two exhibition games, two pre-season games when teams aren't playing their full complement of players...I don't know how much stock the scouts will put into that.
But, obviously like anything else, when you're a player you want to play well every night you play."
Hampton has so far impressed in his appearances for the Breakers, producing more than respectable statlines, albeit in losses during the club's preseason tour in Australia.
Breakers director of basketball Dan Shamir said Hampton can't be seen as 18-year-old playing among men.
"He's just a player who belongs at this level, and I think it's pretty obvious for everybody now that this is the case."
