The Waikato Pistons have clinched the National Basketball League title after a 94-84 over the Nelson Giants in game two of the finals series in Te Awamutu.
MVP Justin Bailey topped all scorers with 32 points and says the talent blend in the squad is near perfect.
Bailey says they have incredible depth, and they go nine and 10 players deep off the bench.
Thomas Abercrombie added 20 points for Waikato, while Phill Jones scored 24 for Nelson.
There is more relief than genuine celebration from the Pistons
Pistons captain Pero Cameron says he is not bouncing off the walls just yet.
Cameron says when he walked off court after they had won it, everyone just talked about relief, because really they were a much better team.
The Pistons are paying tribute to their late former coach Murray McMahon, who died suddenly in July last year.
Cameron says it is an appropriate time to remember him as he put the foundations in two years ago and the depth of Waikato-bred talent in the team is impressive, so McMahon's legacy will live on.
