Technology and social media have played their part in having Taranaki guard Houston O'Riley suspended from the national basketball league.
O'Riley's copped a two game ban by his team for punching an opponent, and the NBL judiciary is investigation further sanctions.
The incident wasn't picked up by referees during the game, but has gone viral on social media courtesy of the league's new live streaming footage.
NBL chairman Sam Rossiter-Stead says it's natural now for incidents to be exposed very quickly.
He says with social media and the digital world, incidents spread very quickly, and it's not a case of there being more incidents, it's more that they spread more quickly.
