Basketballer Charmian Purcell says it may take some time to adjust to playing against women again.
Since representing New Zealand at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Purcell has had to resort to playing informal games against men to get court time.
But that will change today when Purcell leads North Harbour at the first of three tournaments in the inaugural Women's Basketball Championship.
The championship is a joint initiative between Basketball NZ and its associations and clubs, and starts on the North Shore.
