Former Tall Black Phill Jones will face an Australian National Basketball League tribunal this week after allegedly head-butting an opponent in the Cairns Taipans' 76-75 loss to the Sydney Kings on Friday.
Jones, who played two seasons for the New Zealand Breakers in 2004 and 2008 and is in his second season with the Taipans, was reported by match officials after the incident in the closing stages of the first quarter of the match in Cairns.
He is alleged to have head-butted Sydney player Ben Madgen.
Jones, 37, has until 7pm today (NZT) to respond to the charge.
