Basketball: Frank Barr gives Breakers a glimpse of talent for Taranaki

American import Frank Barr looked more like the player the New Zealand Breakers are searching for as he helped the Taranaki Mountain Airs upset the Manawatu Jets 81-76 in the NBL last night.

Barr, who the Breakers are looking at as a potential big-man next season, had been largely unimpressive on his debut last weekend but produced a much better showing this time with 18 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots in New Plymouth.

Meanwhile, the Hawke's Bay Hawks have gone into a five-way tie at the top of the NBL points table after beating the Harbour Heat 88-83 in Napier.
