Former New Zealand Breakers point guard Kevin Braswell has been unveiled as the new coach for the NBL's Wellington Saints.
Braswell has signed a two-year deal to coach the Saints after ending his playing career on a high, winning the 2015 NBL championship with the Southland Sharks.
With Sharks coach Paul Henare leaving the franchise at the conclusion of the season, Braswell was tipped as a likely candidate to take over the reins, however the Saints reportedly gave him a bigger offer.
Braswell will coach the Saints while also acting as North Harbour basketball development manager in the offseason.
The American point guard played two seasons with the Breakers, being part of the title-winning team in 2011, where he was also named the ANBL's Sixth Man of the year. He also spent a year with the Melbourne Tigers, and has played professionally in 10 different countries before finding a home in Southland.
