Every now and then, the sports world offers up a uniform that leaves many fans wondering what they were thinking.

The Delaware 87ers have provided the latest head scratcher as part of the NBA G-League's Nickelodeon Night on Thursday (NZ time).

With teams wearing uniforms inspired by children's television shows shown on Nickelodeon, the 87ers, who are the affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers NBA franchise, donned a less than impressive Spongebob Squarepants-inspired look.

Other teams to take part in the promotion included the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, whose Rugrats-inspired uniform was a bit more visually appealing.
