Now he's dropped his biggest whopper yet.
LaVar is holding apparel giants Nike, Adidas and Under Armour to ransom, refusing to sign Lonzo to a sneaker ambassador deal on his own.
LaVar wants one of the basketball shoe giants to cough up $1 billion to sign his three sons in a bulk deal never seen before.
You can't have one without the other two.
To give LaVar's evaluation some context, Ben Simmons, the No. 1 pick at the 2016 NBA Draft, last year signed a five-year shoe deal with Nike reportedly worth $12-20 million dollars guaranteed with an additional $20 million in performance clause bonuses.
It means LaVar reckons his eldest son is worth roughly 50-times more than the injured 76ers star.
Right now, LaVar has the pick of the litter with his son Lonzo credited for UCLA's impressive season which has seen the school handed the No. 3 seed in the South Region bracket for the NCAA March Madness college basketball national championships.
He's taking full advantage of his situation.
"A billion dollars, it has to be there," Ball told usatoday.com on Tuesday.
"That's our number, a billion, straight out of the gate. And you don't even have to give it to me all up front. Give us $100 million over 10 years."
He's a generous guy.
He's also completely delusional.
LeBron James signed the richest shoe deal in basketball last year - a lifetime deal with Nike that was initially reportedly worth $500 million. Months later James' business partner hinted the true value of the deal is closer to $1 billion.
However, King James has four NBA MVP trophies to his name and three championships.
LaVar and his boys have never played in the NBA.
Lonzo is possibly a future star, but his old man may cost him the top pick in this year's draft, according to NBA commentators.
NBA legend Charles Barkley this week labelled LaVar's outspokenness "stupidity".
It came after LaVar claimed his son Lonzo is a better player than NBA MVP Steph Curry.
"You can't say a guy is going to be better than Steph Curry, a guy who has played 30 college games," Barkley said.
"I know you can be proud of your son, but at some point, it becomes stupidity."
Incredibly, LaVar Ball's Curry declaration is not even close to the most idiotic thing he has said this week.
He has claimed Lonzo would immediately transform the Los Angeles Lakers into a playoff team - if the Lakers secure the No. 1 draft pick this season.
He also reckons Lonzo could easily become a better player than Michael Jordan. Yep, Michael Jordan.
While speaking about His Royal Airness, it's important to note too that LaVar reckons he would have carved up the Chicago Bulls megastar one-on-one.
"Back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one," Ball said.
That's a helluva place to be coming from.
