The Townsville Crocs will run their new American import Ruben Nembhard against the New Zealand Breakers in Auckland tonight after he was yesterday granted an Australian sporting visa.
Nembhard, 31, is a globetrotter who was a high-scorer at Weber State before brief stints with the Jazz, Lakers, Magic and Trailblazers in the NBA. He has since played in Europe and South America and was most recently in Lebanon.
The Crocs will be looking to the 1.91m guard for points after their low-scoring loss to the Breakers in Christchurch.
The home team are expected to start with Ben Melmeth at centre.
Coach Frank Arsego believes the result will come down to desire - who wants it most - "and I think that'll be us."
Lose at the North Shore Events Centre tonight, and their playoff chances are all but over.
NZ Breakers: Pero Cameron (capt), Ben Melmeth, Paul Henare, Lindsay Tait, Phill Jones, Aaron Olson, Dillon Boucher, Paora Winitana, Mike Chappell, Iona Enosa, Blake Truslove, Mike Homik.
Townsville Crocs (likely): Kelvin Robertson, Jeremy Veal, Peter Crawford, Cameron Tragardh, Greg Vanderjagt, Robert Rose, Pat Reidy, Andrew Goodwin, Mike Kelly, Ruben Nembhard.
