Basketball: Cougars find sponsor

Bartercard NZ have stepped in to help the cash-strapped Christchurch Cougars National Basketball League (NBL) team.

Bartercard NZ chief executive Paul Bolte said today he proposed a sponsorship package, which would allow the team to continue playing in the NBL, after learning they were in financial difficulty.

The sponsorship will see the Bartercard name on the front of the team's playing uniforms, and on the court at all home games. The team are currently second in the standings.
