New Zealand guard Kirk Penney's stint in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Los Angeles Clippers has ended after just four games.
The Clippers yesterday waived Penney from their team, leaving them with only 11 players on the active roster while a number of players remain on the injured list.
Penney, 24, played a total of just 12 minutes from his four games and registered just two points, shooting one from three attempts from the field.
Penney had signed a "non-guarantee" contract, meaning the Clippers could bring a halt to his services at any time.
Penney was previously playing in North Carolina for Asheville Altitude in the National Basketball Development League when the Clippers sought his services.
He was cut by the Minnesota Timberwolves in a pre-NBA training camp a year ago and was picked up by the Miami Heat, playing 18 minutes in two NBA games before being released.
The Olympic Games representative ended last season playing in Spain and though he missed out on the NBA opening day rosters this season, he decided to remain in the United States to pursue his NBA ambitions.
